Welcome to sunbear RUNNING, a sanctuary where the busy hustle of life meets the serene path of personal transformation.

Meet Coach Bill: I’m both the founder of sunbear RUNNING and fellow traveler on the corporate highwire. I’m someone who has walked in your shoes.

As an executive who juggles deadlines and family dinners, I’ve felt the weight of balancing a demanding career with a vibrant personal life and running aspirations.

Several years back, as a business school graduate, I entered the corporate world full of ambition. I landed an entry-level role at a major insurance company and was quickly accepted into their executive development program.

The fast-paced environment, demanding responsibilities, and the pressure to excel in additional training were overwhelming. During this intense period, I also became a father. After some time, my waistline expanded with 20-30 added pounds. The bags under my eyes were evidence of poor sleep quality.

My Journey to Change

  1. The Power of Running: It all started with a 5K challenge by friends that reintroduced me to running. Those first steps awakened me. They were wonderfully hard. Running morphed from a mere activity into my solace and sanity saver. It became my secret weapon to shed stress and reclaim my zest for life, all while navigating the tightrope of executive responsibilities.
  2. Embracing Yoga and Deep Stretching: There came a heart-wrenching moment when playing on the floor with my kids felt like a battle against my own body. Stiff and sore, I was determined to change. Deep stretching didn’t just alleviate my pain; it unlocked a new realm of connection with my children. Transforming my flexibility has not only allowed me to be there physically with my family but has also opened doors to teach others how to find relief and presence through targeted yoga stretches.
  3. Breathing New Life: The art of breath work was a revelation. Learning to control my breath transformed daily stress and restless nights into calm and centeredness. These powerful, quick techniques help me stay sharp and serene, whether in a board meeting, on the track, or at bedtime stories.
